Privacy policy
Parkora helps drivers find, book and pay for parking, and lets people share an empty driveway or lot. This policy explains what the Parkora Android app and the website at parkora-ideathon.web.app collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. Parkora is built by The Titans.
The short version
- We collect what Parkora needs to work: your phone number, name, number plate, your bookings, and the spots you share.
- Spots you share, including their address, map pin and photos, are visible to everyone who uses Parkora.
- When you book a spot, its owner sees your name and number plate.
- Your live location stays on your phone. It is not stored or sent to us.
- No ads, no advertising trackers, and we do not sell your information.
- Payments in this version are simulated. We never ask for or store real card, UPI or bank details.
- You can delete your account and data at any time from inside the app.
What we collect and why
- Phone number, to sign you in with a one-time code and keep your account secure.
- Name and car number plate, so owners know who is arriving and gates can recognise your car. Email is optional, for receipts.
- Bookings and passes: the spot, bay, times, parking session, amount and payment method (simulated), so we can hold your bay, bill you and show receipts.
- Spots you share: name, address, map location, hours, rate, amenities and photos, so drivers can find and book them.
- Wallet history of the demo wallet.
- Account identifier: a random ID that links the above to your account.
- Push token: if you turn on notifications in the Android app, a token for your phone so we can send booking updates. It is removed when you turn notifications off or delete your account.
- Notifications we send you, kept in your in-app inbox.
Who can see it
- Everyone using Parkora can see spots you share: the address, map pin, photos, hours, rate and the host name you give.
- Owners of spots you book see your name, number plate and booking times.
- Other drivers only see that a bay is taken for certain times, never who booked it.
- Everything else in your account is visible only to you.
Before sharing a spot at your home, consider that its address and photos will be visible to Parkora users.
Reviews, reports, verification and support
After a paid stay you can rate the spot or the driver. Spot reviews show your first name, stars and comment to other users; driver ratings show only an average. If you report a problem, your text and any photos go to Parkora staff and the other side is told a report was made. If you ask to be verified, the document photo you add is seen only by Parkora staff and is deleted once it has been checked. Messages you send through Help are seen only by Parkora staff. All of this is deleted when you delete your account; published reviews stay as "Former user".
Your location
If you tap Turn on location, Parkora asks for permission to use your precise or approximate location while the app is open. It is used on your phone to sort parking by distance and show where you are on the map. Your live location is not stored or sent to Parkora. Parkora never uses location in the background.
When you share a spot and choose Use my location or place the pin, the spot's location is saved with the spot so drivers can find it. If you tap Directions in Google Maps, the spot's location is opened in Google Maps.
Camera and photos
When you share a spot you can add photos. Take photo asks for camera permission and opens the camera; From gallery uses Android's photo picker, so the app only receives the photos you choose. Photos are shrunk on your phone and stored with the spot, where other users can see them.
Services we use
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging for push notifications, Hosting) stores and processes account and booking data. Booking data is stored in Google's Mumbai region. See Firebase privacy.
- Google reCAPTCHA checks that sign-ins come from a person. It may process your IP address and device information. See Google's privacy policy.
- OpenStreetMap map tiles and place search: your phone requests map images and sends any place you search for to OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
These providers process data on our behalf to run Parkora. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Permissions
- Internet, to sync your account, bookings and spots.
- Location (precise and approximate), only after you turn it on, for the uses above.
- Camera, when you take a photo of a spot you share or scan a bay sign to check in. Camera images used for scanning are read on your phone and never stored.
- Notifications (Android 13 and later), only after you tap Turn on, for reminders and booking updates.
Parkora does not request contacts, microphone, background location or storage permissions.
Children
Parkora is meant for drivers and property owners aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account exists. To delete it, open the app, go to Profile and tap Delete account and data. This immediately and permanently deletes your sign-in account, profile, bookings, passes, wallet history, and the spots you shared with their photos. Upcoming bookings other drivers made on your spots are cancelled; their own past receipts remain in their accounts without your details. See the account deletion page.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is limited by security rules: you can only read your own account and bookings, and bookings can only be created and changed by Parkora's servers, which check every request.
Your choices
You can view and change your profile in the app, pause or remove spots you share, turn location off in your phone's settings, and delete your account at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Parkora handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
